Makani Centre in Jordan

Support Children and Families in Souf Camp

Souf Camp, located approximately ten kilometres north of Jerash City, is one of Jordan’s oldest Palestinian refugee camps and remains home to thousands of vulnerable refugee families living within a densely populated urban environment. Many households continue to experience poverty, unemployment, limited economic opportunities, and increasing dependence on humanitarian assistance.
This camp has a particularly young population, placing considerable pressure on education, protection, and social services. Children and adolescents face multiple protection risks, including school dropout, child labour, violence, and limited access to psychosocial support. Girls, children with disabilities, and children from economically vulnerable households encounter additional barriers to education and social participation.

A Community Facing Growing Challenges

The Makani Centre addresses these interconnected challenges through an integrated model that combines educational support, child protection, psychosocial support, early childhood development, parenting programmes, life skills, digital skills, community outreach, and referral services. Rather than delivering isolated activities, the centre provides a comprehensive package of services that responds to children’s needs throughout different stages of development while strengthening the capacity of families and communities to protect and support them.
The Makani Centre recently lost its funding due to UNICEF cuts and Droplets of Mercy has made a commitment to ensure this centre does not close. The entire project has an annual budget of $225,000 and we are asking for your support.

Your Support Creates Measurable Impact

700 children

Your Support provides 700 children annually to participate in Accelerated Learning and Reading Recovery programs.

300 Adolescents

300 adolescents annually complete life skills, financial literacy, and digital skills training.

1,000 Community Members

Approximately 1,000 community members annually participate in awareness campaigns and child protection outreach activities.

Help Keep This Safe Space Open

For hundreds of children and adolescents in Souf Camp, the Makani Centre represents more than a building. It is a place where they can continue their education, receive protection, develop important life skills, and feel supported by their community.
Your contribution can help keep the centre’s doors open and protect these essential services for another year.
Together, we can give children and families the support they need to learn, grow, and build a more secure future.
