Monsoon and flash floods have submerged river islands (chars), haor basins, and low-lying urban wards, isolating communities and washing away food stocks, tools, and livestock. Tube wells and latrines are inundated or damaged, contaminating drinking water and forcing families to rely on unsafe sources while markets and health posts sit out of reach.
Overcrowded shelters strain privacy and basic services, and prolonged standing water increases the risk of diarrheal disease, skin infections, and vector-borne illness. Children, older adults, and people with disabilities face the greatest barriers to evacuation and care, while lost income and rising debts deepen vulnerability long after waters recede.

Relief must move quickly over water and damaged roads, linking local responders with flexible assistance that restores safe water, stabilizes households, and protects health and dignity as recovery begins.
Safe access & rapid delivery: Use boats and high-clearance vehicles with local volunteers to reach cut-off areas, delivering multi-purpose cash or food rations alongside tarps, shelter repair kits, blankets, and cooking sets.
Water, sanitation & hygiene: Deploy emergency chlorination and portable treatment, elevate or repair tube wells, desludge/repair latrines, and provide jerrycans, soap, cleaning tools, and menstrual hygiene kits to prevent disease.
Health & nutrition services: Operate mobile clinics for ORS/zinc, basic medicines, wound care, and routine immunization, while screening children and pregnant/lactating women for acute malnutrition and ensuring timely referrals.
